Solar, storage and energy services in Ventura County

Designed, permitted and installed by a Sylmar-based contractor that works in this utility territory every week — because Ventura County does not follow the same rules as the county next door.

What we do in Ventura County

Current Energy designs, installs and maintains solar, battery storage, EV charging, lighting, HVAC, roofing and electrical systems across Ventura County. Our office is at 15823 Monte St, Suite 101 in Sylmar, so this is local work rather than a territory served from somewhere else.

Typical property here: Agricultural and processing operations, distribution and business-park property, retail centres, apartment communities and single-family housing.

What is different about Ventura County

Agricultural and processing load

Ventura County’s agricultural sector runs pumping, cooling and processing loads through expensive hours, and frequently has land available for ground-mount. It is often the strongest kilowatt-hour-per-dollar case we see.

Coastal versus inland conditions

Corrosion and salt exposure near the coast change equipment and mounting-hardware selection; inland heat changes production modelling. The same design does not serve Oxnard and Simi Valley equally well.

Business parks and distribution

Camarillo, Moorpark and Simi Valley carry substantial business-park and distribution stock — large flat roofs, weekday daytime load and demand charges, which is the combination commercial solar and storage handle best.

Which utility serves Ventura County, and why does it matter?

Ventura County is largely Southern California Edison territory, placing new solar customers on the Net Billing Tariff — NEM 3.0. It matters because the utility determines what your exported energy is worth, what the interconnection process looks like and how long permission to operate takes. Two properties a few miles apart can have genuinely different economics for the same system.

Can solar and storage reduce demand charges at a Ventura County growing or processing facility?

Frequently, yes, because agricultural and processing operations run concentrated pumping, cooling and processing load that produces demand peaks. Those peaks are billed on top of energy, and shaving them is what battery storage does. We model against twelve months of your interval data and your actual rate schedule.

Does coastal air affect solar equipment in Ventura County?

It affects specification. Coastal and inland conditions differ across the county in salt exposure, marine layer and summer temperature, which bears on racking and equipment selection and on production modelling. A design that suits an inland business park is not automatically right for a site near the coast.
