The team
Partner-owned, and every partner named. More than sixty years of combined experience in Southern California energy, engineering and development.
The partners
Three partners, named, with the work behind them. Between them they bring more than sixty years in Southern California development, engineering and energy, and the engineering side alone accounts for over 200 megawatts of photovoltaic work.

Steve Heiney
Partner, Operations
Twenty years in Southern California development, with a reputation built on consistency and follow-through. Previously vice president at a Los Angeles solar company, and before that in commercial real estate development — which is why the operations side of a Current Energy project tends to be run like a construction schedule rather than a sales pipeline.
Degree in Finance, California State University, Fullerton

Patrick Delchop
Partner, Sales · Co-founder
Co-founder. Over twenty years across sales, client liaison, operations and project management. Developed solar projects for tenants at Los Angeles World Airports and has concluded more than thirty megawatts of solar contracts.

David J. Bell
Partner, Engineering · Co-founder
Co-founder. Over twenty years of engineering and design experience, more than ten of them devoted to photovoltaics. Has developed, designed, engineered or consulted on well over 200 megawatts of PV projects — which is where the figure on our homepage comes from.

Why this page exists
Most contractor sites do not name anyone. That makes a company impossible to verify and, in practice, impossible to trust with a seven-figure asset on your roof. Every person above can be looked up, and the licence can be checked in about two minutes at cslb.ca.gov.
Common questions
Who owns Current Energy?
Current Energy is partner-owned. Patrick Delchop and David J. Bell are co-founders; Steve Heiney is a partner running operations. All three are named on this page with their backgrounds, which is not universal in this industry and is worth checking before you sign anything with anyone.
Who actually designs the system?
Engineering is led by David J. Bell, a co-founder with more than twenty years of engineering and design experience and over ten years in photovoltaics specifically. The person modelling your production figure works for the company that has to deliver it.
How much solar has the team actually built?
More than 200 megawatts of PV developed, designed, engineered or consulted on by our engineering partner over his career, and more than thirty megawatts of solar contracts concluded by our sales partner. The 200 MW figure on our homepage refers to the team’s cumulative career work, not to a single company year.
Can I verify the licence?
Yes, and please do. California Contractors State License Board licence #1074466 — status, bond and workers’ compensation coverage are published free at cslb.ca.gov. Check ours and check anyone else you are considering.
